Bean! (funny or insanity?)

Because it was one of the most random and (when taken out of context) just plain weird sentences …

It’s a sign that I should go to bed now because I just find that hilarious …

(I always say, I don’t need liquor or drugs. Just deprive me of sleep or feed me too much sugar or both, and I can achieve pretty much the same effect.)

Why am I still up? I don’t really know. o_O It was midnight such a short while ago … I brushed my teeth, then sat down at my desk, and I decided to make a header for lj.com/thefreakishjedi. I’m trying to use Ellie from Degrassi TNG. ^^’ But the images aren’t that great. :/ So I was messing around in PSP and PS both (believe me, it made me dizzy) trying to make it look better but blah I’m just not that good so then I decided to make it a grungy image and stuff but then I didn’t really know how to make it grungy without grungy brushes, but I don’t like using brushes because then I always have to give credit for the brushes and it’s like I didn’t do the work and uh this run-on sentence is getting boring so yeah.

Then I went searching for grunge brush making tutorials, and I found lots of nice ones, but since it’s past midnight I don’t really feel like reading the instructions and I’m just skimming and that’s taking me longer because I keep going back to reread stuff I didn’t really take in. Also, they’re good tutorials, but I just need more practice. Or more sleep. Or both. :b Oh well. Yeah.

I was thinking about using this one header offered on the Ev_Icons community on LJ. It looks sooo nice. But, you know me, I just need to be picky that way and make allll my own stuff. Blah.

Anyway. What did I do today? I went on my laptop and updated about half the codes on my joined page. Yeah, that took me a few hours. ^^;; But isn’t it so pweeeetty? :D In the middle of that I was interrupted by Uncle R and Grandma and Grandpa coming over with Chinese take-out for Grandpa’s birthday. :D So we ate and sat around for a few hours. Then I finished my codes. Then … stuff that I can’t really remember.

Then at 10:30 Mommy had me use PayPal to pay for my two ebay items. I’m wondering if I should regret buying these two things. ^^;; One’s a velvet dress, shortsleeved with shortish skirt, and the other’s a short velvet skirt. Is velvet a very terrible material? I was thinking that maybe I could kind of uh, make adjustments to *coughtotallyruincough* the dress and make it kind of EGL-inspired. It wouldn’t really be EGL because I’m not that into ruffles and because the skirt is too short (unless I put something under to lengthen it? *shrug* and I don’t think there’s much room to wear petticoats underneath.

Oh well. Aaaaanyway. On Saturday Mickey made me wash my car with him. *sniffle* He was so mean. :b Blegh, whatever, I was being my usual slow self and he washed over half the car, and he also did everything that had to do with the hose (too cooooold), and he washed my wheel rims for me. And he used all his car products that he bought with his own money. ^-^ My brother’s so wonderful. He also put air in my tires. ^^; I’m not strong enough to attach the pump to the tire. Blah. Weakling, I am. And now my car is all clean and shinny. Yes, shinny.

Yeahhh … now, tomorrow I’ll go to bed at a reasonable time … I hope. Well, at least it’s not the weekend and Mum won’t wake me up early (ie 10 am :b) to eat breakfy. Mm. Dunno. I really should stop going on the computer after dinner. x_< My will is slowly being chipped away by the ebil compi.

let me believe that I am someone else

… New layout. ^^;; Why do Lisa‘s and my new layouts tend to coincide with each other? (Lisa! I luff your new layout! Ish sho coool! XD And Hide was pretty cute. :b) Well, I got tired of my other one, anyway … and I was actually planning to put up this other layout that I made for my livejournal that I like (just have to rework it and refine it), but then I spent all of today creating this one from scratch. o_O And I think I like it more than my lj layout. ^_^’ (And yah, they both have Natalie Portman on them. XD Although the lj image is much more recent.) Now I just have to make a Natalie Portman layout for iat and I’m all set. :b

I keep waking up during the night. T-T Not one night goes by where I don’t wake up at least TWICE. I usually wake up three times … X( And then I can never fall asleep before 11. (Of course, it would help if I were actually in bed before 11. ^^;) Last night I fell asleep around 1. I listened to Dashboard Confessional’s A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar album three times yesterday. o_O Kinda got sick of it. ^^;; But yaaay, Dashboard Confessional! :D Oh yeah, this layout has lyrics from them. XD

And now I cut it short to attempt to sleep for eight straight hours … (yeah right). (Oh yeah, will fix page colors tomorrow or when I get the time.)

Last night (or this morning …) I stayed up until past 5. ^^;;; I stayed up so late I thought, ‘Hm, just another hour and a half until everyone wakes up. Maybe I’ll try to stay up.’ But no, I fell asleep. Haha! Like the first night in … so many nights that I haven’t tried for over an hour to fall asleep. x.x; I woke up at around noon … (better than 1:30/2 like other days ^^;;). 7 hours of sleep. :) Hahaha … Well, yesterday I read this thing in the Health section of LA Times. It’s “A night owl resets his body clock” by Joshua Tompkins.

Millions of Americans are night owls, routinely staying up past 2 in the morning and sleeping until noon whenever possible.

… left to set my own hours as a freelance writer, I watched my schedule drift later than ever. Efforts to turn in at a decent hour proved fruitless, even on days when I had managed to get up early. Around 11 p.m., an exasperating second wind would swirl up and keep me awake for hours. I’d wake up around noon, finish “breakfast” by 1 p.m. and curse yet another truncated, unproductive workday.

Scientists consider an unwillingly postponed sleep schedule to be a medical condition called delayed sleep phase syndrome, or DSPS. Caused by an irregularity of the circadian rhythms that govern the body clock, this and other sleep rhythm disorders most probably result from a combination of environmental and genetic factors, says Dr. Michael Wincor, an associate professor at USC’s schools of pharmacy and medicine. Because relatively few people seek treatment for it, estimates of the prevalence of DSPS are imprecise. Most researchers believe that 4% or fewer adults have the condition.

Experts agree that it is more widespread among adolescents than adults, with about 7% of teenagers having the condition, according to a 1989 report by the Journal of Sleep Research. Studies have shown that many teens possess slightly delayed body clocks, remaining energetic through the evening and typically requiring 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 hours of sleep.

DSPS is also common among college students, says Wincor. “On a daily basis, I see people with at least mild delayed sleep phase syndrome,” he says. “They’re accustomed to going to bed at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. and being able to sleep until 10 a.m.”

Sleeping pills can’t remedy DSPS, so physicians sometimes prescribe chronotherapy, in which the patient goes to bed three hours later each night until he or she rounds the clock dial to the desired schedule. That is as laborious as it sounds, and those who complete it (usually missing a week of work to do so) must strictly adhere to the new routine or risk total relapse. Taking melatonin, the hormone normally secreted at night to help regulate sleep, can correct the problem in some cases.

The most effective therapy, however, is light therapy, according to sleep researchers.
