better off alone

I couldn’t fall asleep so I stayed up all night and finished Harry Potter. I think I started at around 600 pages that night. ^^;; About 250 pages in around 300 minutes. Isn’t that pretty good? For all night reading? I dunno, I never did it before. :b

I tried taking in lots of sugar so I wouldn’t fall asleep, but I kept putting my head down and feeling myself slipping … I was really tired and Mommy and Daddy’s bed looked nice, so I rested for a few minutes. >.>

I kept waking myself up and attempting to watch the television . ^.^;;

On IFC there was some animated short, and they were speaking a foreign language, and I got interested, so I watched. Turns out it was Russian. But that’s all I really got out of it. O.o; It was about some guy chasing some tank … and the tank tried shooting him, but missed … and in the end, he gave up, and the tank stopped, reversed, and (I assume) ran over him, even though he created it. After that native kids were playing on the tank half-buried in sand, and a boat offshore was about to bomb it (it was on a test site …), but then the tank came to life and bombed the missiles on the boat so it exploded.

It was really interesting animation. Almost as if someone had painted each and every shot (not painted on a cel, but honest-to-goodness painted). But then the next thing started, and that had even more interesting animation. O_O

It wasn’t as fluid/paint-y as the other one; it didn’t seem as if it was using very advanced techniques. In fact, a lot of the time you were just staring at this one shot for a second, no movement, until they showed the next shot. It really tied in with the whole feel of the short. Because, in my half-awake state, I thought, ‘This is like someone’s dream.’ The beginning said it was about this man who invented an instrument called the glass harmonica, which people loved to listen to, totally enraptured, and this town that worshipped the gold … something. I forget what they called it. But basically … money. I think. o_o; Anyway.

The guy was playing the glass harmonica and people came out of their homes (looked like rows of tents …) to listen, and all their faces (ugly as they were ^^;;;;) were wrapped up in the music. But one of the people listening walked up to the front of the crowd and snapped his fingers and these two other guys showed up beside the musician, and they broke his glass harmonica. ;_; Then the guy did weird stuff with a gold coin/gold coins, and that seemed to be a sign for destruction, ’cause everyone climbed up this clocktower (I think) and pulled stuff out of it.

This one guy who took one of the hands of the clock ran home, tossed it and this woman thing on a pile, and pulled up a chair to an old-fashioned doorlock, where he spied on a guy in a room who had gold coins (he went swimming in them, and choked on one O.o and got it out by turning himself upside down and kicking his butt). The coin rolled out (on its own will) to the man watching, and he chased after it, but the lady thing on the pile came alive and stamped it under her foot. When he tried to get the coin, she turned into a hippo, and he turned into some sort of animal after she stamped at him. Then I fell asleep, I guess (I think they chased each other around), but at the end this kid who was in the first crowd got the glass harmonica back.

Yeah, really odd.

I fell back asleep and then woke up ’cause Mickey was talking about going to Blockbuster. I slept and woke and slept and woke for roughly two hours. O_o; But I went to Blockbuster.

I got the Animatrix. Heh heh. Although I think it’s kind of pointless for me to watch it if I haven’t seen the movies … Oh well!! ^^;; I just really like the animation … I saw the second one in multimedia, and I saw this one that reminded me of Serial Experiments Lain on some Mtv channel. I liked the latter one better.

I also went with Mommy to Petco, and we went awwwww at the guinea pigs they had. :P They had this one that was red all over. Even its eyes were red; they were those albino kind of eyes where they’re pink. And there was another one, which Mommy called a “Dutch Absynnian.” So cuuute! I wanted to pet them so much T-T But they were in the cases … They cost $30 each. O_O!! Oh yeah, the chinchillas raised in price as well; they now cost $160. x.x;; I found out that Flower (the original Flower) was pregnant at 4 weeks old (poor baby! ;_; literally) when Mommy got her. :(

more laptop crashing

Ugh. Next chance I get, I am so tossing my laptop out the window. -_- What happened? I’ll tell you what happened! *in a highly animated mood right now*

I had quite a few windows open … but does that really matter? I dunno, it could, I suppose … but anyway! I had almost a dozen windows open, and I was trying to save a document in Netscape Composer (I had the save as box open, not sure exactly what I was doing … either typing the filename or moving the cursor to hit “save”). And I got another blueboxscreenwithablackbackground. ¬_¬

I didn’t bother to remember whatall it said, because it never helps, all the stuff I write down. What I remember is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL_TO (something like that), Contact your so and so for … whatever, more info, help, whatever, and 0x0000000A (however many zeroes …) 0x00000001 0x00000002 and there were other numbers like that … but hey, like I’m gonna remember them? >_< Wahhh, I miss my entry already! ;-; :b

I suppose summertime is the best time to send a laptop back to the manufacturer. And PLUS! The compi in the study is connected to the wireless network finally! *hugs compi* I get my good old compi back! ^-^ Well, I guess it ain’t so good no more … *ahem* … But still, it’s the second one I ever had, and it’s the first good one I had (first one was made in the early ’90s … by IBM …), and I used it for 4 whole years. I even got used to the BSODs and … freezings, and other junk. It’s not nearly as irritating as whatever’s wrong with my laptop. Because it was faulty, it’s supposed to do that. But Portibale is supposed to be uber grand! ;-; It was the best in the house before Daddy got his new black compi!

Anyway. Back to the stupid crashing or whatever thing. I don’t remember the last time my laptop did that. I guess in the spring, before Daddy did whatall for most of the night trying to fix it. >_> It seems to have been a temporary fix … well, I dunno if it really fixed anything, because after he worked on it, my screen would always blink black for a nanosecond sometime during the startup, while I’m putting in the password, or right after. Then after a while the display still froze.

I like it best, though, when the screen goes blank, ’cause I know if I wait for half a minute or so it’ll come back, albeit in a 350×200 resolution (I’m not kidding, it’s tiny), and with like a 4 bit color setting. It’s really odd, because I can’t even get that if I wanted it. The lowest I have is 800×600 (with a warning: “This screen is formatted for a 1024×768 screen resolution, so everything will look funky in 800×600”) and 16 bit color.

I’ll walk with the other one

Last night I stayed up to 1:20 reading Harry Potter again. XP Page 330. Not bad, I guess. Not good, either, though. Oh well. Someone said there’s too much teen angst in this book. I kinda agree. ^.^;; Harry keeps pouting and all of a sudden he’s got a temper. o.O I mean, a good portion of the time it’s understandable, but then he keeps jumping on his friends’ backs, and it’s just annoying.

I fell asleep some time after 3. And I woke up around 11:30 on my own. Hehehe. ^^;; Go me! Goby!! *holds up fish* >.> Animal Crossing … I haven’t played that game in a long while … *fears what her town looks like* You know, I listened to Bleed American while playing AC so much that whenever I listen to it now I remember Animal Crossing. Haha!

I’m dying again

Cool. I saw the Going Under music video today. :) Weird video. Well, not weird, but it sure made me dizzy watching it. o_o;; The scenes kept changing so quickly. I like Amy Lee’s outfit, though. XD And she sang underwater. o.o I wonder how they did that. Because, well, she was underwater.

I also saw that live performance (on German tv) of Going Under. O_O Wow. Amy Lee’s voice is … so great. On the CD, you can’t hear her real voice, really, with the digital changes, or however it’s done. But live, it blows me away. I wanna sound like her! ;.;

Ooh, and I saw Michelle Branch’s video for Are You Happy Now? Very … colorful. :b It’s not a very interesting video … eye candy, but not much else. Other than the song, of course. Uber good song!

Well. Despite spending almost four hours on Mommy and Daddy’s compi watching music videos and playing Spider Solitaire, I don’t really want to be on the computer. ^_^;; I got to page 250 in Harry Potter last night. I stopped reading around 1:20 or so. Then I couldn’t fall asleep x_x so I sat in my chair until I fell asleep, then at 5 I got up and went to bed. Woke up … I forget when. 1 or 2, I guess …

nothing left to say

Okay. New layout! Ehehe. I got it from the cover of The China Garden by Liz Berry. Copyrights and stuff under credits. ^^;; Anyway … I’m not sure the lyrics fit the image (they’re, uhh … The Corrs’ “Give It All Up”) but I couldn’t find anything better … in other words I searched for a few minutes and got lazy. XP Oh well.

Other layout got boring. Even with the wraparound text it’s still image here, text to the side. And this layout is the same, just reversed, but it’s still new, so it’ll stay up for, oh, say a couple of days. :b But I still like the other layout … Mikako … and pnik :b … and Ai Yazawa … but the coding/placement got boring. So yeah.

On Tuesday night Mommy got me to watch Dead Like Me. :D Funny show. Not just funny. It’s interesting. It’s not … plain humor. I like the actor who plays George. Or is it Georgia? *didn’t pay much attention* Whyyyy did they put it on at 11 at night?! And then … the regular airtime from now on is Fridays at TEN. ;_; That’s Monk time!!! *wails* Unfaaair!
