layouts, games, and book shopping

Ummm … *is in the middle of changing the layout* Lookie, mah birthday prezzie from Noelle. :D:D:D:D So cool! Pun not intended. ^^;;; Kawaii kitty, no?

Oh yeah, the Japanese reminds me. When we were coming home there was a commercial on the radio for some new store. This isn’t the whole name, just the part I remember. :b I heard them say “The Shishi Store.” I was sitting there thinking I must have heard it wrong, and then Daddy said, “Did they just say The Shishi Store?” ^_^;;;;;; So hah! I didn’t imagine it! XP And uhh … I don’t wanna explain. >.>; *moves along*

Today I followed Mickey to his room and asked if I could play with the GCN. We played Tetris Worlds. :D Weird setup, though … it’s kind of like, how far can you stray from the simple game of stacking tetraminos while still stacking tetraminos? And for some reason, I kept landing blocks one space off from where I meant them to go. >.< Annoying. He kept goading me. ^^;;; I’m not very good at Tetris anymore … *sniffles* I was always two or so levels behind him. Pooh.

After we played two or three neverending games @_@ (Mickey: When does this end? Me: Now. *quits*) we played The Sims. Bwahaha, I’m one level higher than he is in our house. >b He kept poking fun at me because of my bathroom though. >.> (Mickey: Who has the cleaner bathroom? Me: At least I don’t have flies flying around my toilet! Mickey: Those are your pet flies. They’re by your room. Me: Yeah well at least my bathroom doesn’t stink.)

Went to Barnes and Noble. *.* Their manga/comic section can look pretty nice when it’s cleaned up. Of course, it’s still only two shelves worth of space, but better than nothing. Everything was all out of order. I would have straightened it out (my fingers were just itching to put everything in order), but I was carrying food from Tony Roma’s, and plastic is loud when other people are reading. o.o

Got this one manga, forget what it’s called, read about it in my Waldenbooks e-mail thingimabobber. It’s “controversial.” :b Also got Kare Kano 3 (dunno why, not that into the series), Neil Gaiman’s Smoke and Mirrors (waiii!), Why Girls Are Weird (about this girl who posts made-up diary entries online, and what happens because of it o.O), aaaand … The Art of Charles Schultz. w00t! XD $25. o_o But it’s Charles Schuuultz! It has his older comics and stuff. Mommy says they’re not as funny. But they’re cute. Yup! ^-^

I spent, in total, $81.11. ._. Okay, new rule. No wandering around bookstores after I’ve got two or three or four books! x_x

Spent the rest of the night working on my First Band on the Moon fanlisting. Woo! :D I was working on the Other Side of the Moon fanlisting, but then I got tired of coding/writing, so I went to look at Noelle’s present. X) And it led me here. Muahaha.

I changed the coding a bit, though. Put the entries in a div tag, instead of in an inline frame. (Used frames for L.S layout, don’t wanna do that again any time soon. x_x)

Oh yeah. :D New layout at Literal Scars. Woo! Dunno how good it is though. I always tend to like my really not-so-normal stuff, and then it turns out that there’s something wrong with it. :( Oh well. Poem! (on the layout) “I need to have loved you. I need to have told you so.” Whyyy can’t I write like that?

Oh yeah. Went to this person’s writing site. I like her poems. ^^; All three she’s got up there. Especially the first one. ^^ Kind of makes me want to create my own writing site (one separate from my art). But I don’t have nearly enough of anything for it.

Anyway, anyway … now on to fixing up the tagboard for the layout. And after that I think I’ll leave the OSOTM fanlisting for when I wake up.

weeeird incident

I was sitting here, reading “Matu’s” blog (no linkie, sorryyy … :b), and listening to my Cardigans album First Band on the Moon (which I still have to make a fanlisting for :D), minding my own business.

Now, for the looongest time, my CD-player has been a bit broked. Sometimes it’ll just up and start skipping all over the place and pausing and going back and … yeah, skipping all over the place. This time I just sat there and mentally glared at it. Then I started wondering if it was some spirit or something … like how they mess with electricity and the blinds and … whatall, I don’t know, to let people know they’re around. Never heard of them fooling with CD players, but there’s always a first, no?

So then I didn’t feel like going to fix it ^^;; (if I open it, close it, and start it all over again, it usually fixes). I thought of saying out loud to the spirit (if there was one, dunno), “Can’t you find another way of telling me you’re here? This is annoying.” But then I didn’t want to … uhh … talk out loud. ^.^;;

Started to get really annoying though, of course. So I got up and reached out my hand to open the case and it started playing normally. This isn’t all that odd; I pulled back my hand and it started skipping again. -_-;; I don’t know why, but it does that a lot. Then I just yelled out, “That isn’t funny!!” and it started playing normally again. O_O *is very very scared*

anime blog and personal site rants?

There are these two pages (probably more) online that I read, one about “trendy anime blogs” and the other about personal websites.

I probably don’t qualify for an anime blog. ^.^; I haven’t used many anime images lately. :/ And I don’t like the 8pt font size. SM00’s got that on her blog. x_x I mean, okay, on a 17″ monitor with an 800×600 screen resolution it’s a pretty legible size. But on a 15″ screen with 1024×768, it can be a strain on the eyes sometimes.

Regarding another point this page had, okay, I may have a kind of depressing name (if I actually went ahead and got my crimsoncut domain, that would be even more dark :b). And I may have used garish colors before. And I most definitely change my layout a bit too often (I … get sick of my work if I look at it frequently enough ^^;;;). But uhh … skipping over the pointless stuff.

Moving on to the next page. While I thought the anime blog page might have been funny (I’ve been to two of the nine pages they pick on before, and didn’t like them being exemplified like that), the other one was just plain bitching and crap. It wasn’t well thought out and decently written. There’s really no point to it. It was just pointing out people and saying, “This part of your site is awful.” Why not be more constructive and give tips on how to improve?

“You are not a “webmaster” (or “webmistress”) because you have a website. Any two-bit punk can do exactly the same thing — inflating yourself with self-granted titles of grandiose stature doesn’t change the fact that your site sucks.”

I guess it’s the wording or something. I finally get it. People don’t like that a “site” filled with information about the site owner is held on the same level as a “site” that contains something for other people, i.e. information, reviews, whatever. Or at least I think basically that’s it.

So my warning “This is a personal domain and thusly I use my space to satisfy my own needs, so leave if you’re looking for real content” doesn’t cut it. Then I began to think, so what’s the point of me having my blog online? I mean, I know I say, “I have a blog for myself, no one else,” but then if that’s true, shouldn’t I just keep it away from everyone?

But then those friends-only livejournals always annoyed me. :b I mean … it’s fine if you don’t go around talking about it. Or actually posting a link to it. I don’t think I talk about my journal in my blog much, do I? Or my diary? I haven’t posted a link to that in sooo long.

But anyway. Just made me think. What the hell do I have a blog for anyway? SM00 and Noelle, I suppose. Keep up with each other. But then, if that’s so, why do I go around commenting in other people’s blogs and leaving the url to it? And joining fanlistings? O_o Something to ponder. I mean … I don’t have visions of grandeur, do I? I don’t want to become a super-read, super-linked, super-talked about blogger, do I? O_O (I can imagine all the paranoia keeping me up at night. Ahaha. ^_^;;;)

I think my blog’s gonna get another dry spell when college starts. I just really really don’t like typing up little reports of my day. ^^;; Although one couldn’t easily tell by reading my blog. I mean … I always found, “woke up, ate breakfast, went to school, had class, came home, did homework, went online” stuff boring and pointless and whatnot … it’s just that sometimes I need to say what happened. Why is that?

And you know what? I think, wasn’t it, those type of journals that are treasured the most today? When people wrote down what happened during the day? Okay maybe not eating breakfast and going to school. :b But … there’s someone who’s into that, isn’t there? I forget what they’re called. Something to do with culture … I thought anthropology and sociology, but those aren’t it, are they?

Hodj n Podj

Today I played Hodj n Podj. Did a couple cryptograms, got annoyed, then started fooling around with Art Parts. XP First I did 25 columns by 1 row. That was fun. Then I did 30 rows by 1 column. Then I did 25 columns by 30 rows. O.O!! It was like playing with pixels! In the course of ten minutes, all I got to do was put all the sky pieces at the top, and all the pieces of the sign below the sky. ^.^;;

Then I did a couple puzzles that were more normal … then I played the board game, one player, Podj an average opponent and me at a medium skill level. Whenver Podj lost a turn or lost gold I went “Gehehe …” and when he got a turn or got gold I went “Dengit” and when I lost items (TWICE!) I went “DANGIT!” The second time I hit my fist on the desk and my neighbor said something or other about me … o.o;; I didn’t quite hear him, and I didn’t want to ask … But anyway. I won. :D I married Mish and/or Mosh and had twin daughters, w00t! :b

behind the bitter ache

After having been on the computer for about an hour and a half, these are some things I have discovered:

This song that Adam sent me a while ago, “The Meaning of Peace,” it has two singers, BoA and Koda Kumi. I just found out I have another song with Koda Kumi, “1000 no Kotoba.”

I’ve got almost 23 hours of music stuff. 883 megs. That’s not counting the stuff I’ve deleted from the library.

I still have no idea how to get the Mozilla browser. ¬_¬ (Well, chalk it up to impatience this time, I don’t wanna go looking through the site.) Netscape’s end is near.

Right now I could work on my sites, but I don’t feel like it. ^^;;;

Hidek’s got the Gamecube (playing the Sims) and Mickey’s got the N64 (playing the New Tetris). I could latch on to either, if I really wanted to.

There’s also Fushigi Yuugi (1st season) and Escaflowne I have to finish watching, and the Escaflowne movie and the Cowboy Bebop movie to see. I don’t have the patience to watch tv though. Hmm … I have no idea what to do. ^^;; *goes to update dreamlog*
