save Harry Potter

Don’t Kill Harry!

That cracks me up. Probably because Harry Potter isn’t one of my favorite characters. I don’t really care for him. As long as she saves Ron and Hermione I’m happy.

But I have read stories where characters I’ve cared for have died. Thinking about it though, I don’t know if I would have those characters saved. Their passing adds something to the story, I suppose.

On the other hand, I’ve never read a story where the main character died. That is a bit weird, don’tcha think? Then again, I do want to see Harry die. I just think it would be … different. Something new. It would definitely make an impact. XD

Oh! I just remembered, a Neil Gaiman story had the main character die. Definitely, definitely, the character couldn’t have NOT died. It would have been a weak, lame, boring, disappointing conclusion.

On that note, hmmm … *grin*

2005 book list

Wheee, I remembered to update. :P Here’s a list of all the books I managed to read in 2005 (plus a few from 2004 >.>). (List started January 22, 2005.) I was trying to read 100 books in one year. I didn’t read that many, just half (including the few from 2004 ^^;). Another goal I’d like to accomplish in life is to read 100 books in one year! (Even though that would amount to reading one book every 3.65 days. …Unless I did it in a leap year, then it’d be 3.66 days…)

It’s kind of weird. I look over the list, and I think, Wow, I read that book then? It seems like so long ago… Like The Handmaid’s Tale or The Unbearable Lightness of Being. I want to reread Ender’s Shadow again. XD (Even though I already have about a half dozen books on my to-read list, not including class required reading. *ack*)

Also, wow, I’m gone for only one week and WordPress is updated. Hmmm, maybe I should leave other things alone and maybe they’ll get updated too… (Note to self, upgrade WordPress after backing up current state.)

dreams lengthening and shortening time

Wow. I was updating my private dreamlog (rule for myself: every new dream I have, I have to add at least two dreams to my log) and I found this dream with a reference to Harry Potter. o_o Now, for some reason, I was thinking that the dreams I had in 2001 were old. Yet, I keep thinking that it wasn’t that long ago that I read Harry Potter after Christmas. But, I guess, yeah, I read them in high school. About three and a half years ago. Hehe. I don’t know why, but I think that that’s such a long time ago. Number-wise. But when I think about back then, it doesn’t seem like such a long time ago.

Anyway! In the same dream, Magic cards and books about trains were mentioned. o_o That was a while ago! It just makes my brain do a backflip.

second Ontario Mills trip

I don’t know if I wrote about the first trip somewhere anywhere (I doubt it; I don’t even remember when it was), but here’s a summary of my second one. ^^;

Mickey had to practice driving to school, or so Daddy decided, and somehow it turned into a big trip to the Ontario Mills Outlet Mall. I was happy. Haha. Um. Didn’t want to go (and be a bother and slow down the strolling with my visiting of shops) if Hidek wasn’t going (because if Hidek didn’t go it would have been a smaller trip, nothing big, blah blah blah). But Hidek went. Yay. :) Brought my CD player with The Strokes’ Room on Fire and Dashboard Confessional’s A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar (I hope I got that right), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (rereading the series during the summer), and my purse with $30 in it. XD

Short summary of the whole mall part: used the restroom twice (felt queasy, had drunk water before leaving, along with my hot cocoa and orange juice at breakfy, then had soda at the mall [with Burger King fries :)] to ease my headache-y-ness), looked through a couple shoe stores, the bargain bookstore (saw a cuuute picture book of this girl and her guinea pig that she let go because she didn’t want a “pet for babies” and missed it and he came home and it was cuuuute), stared in Charlotte Russe and Hot Topic from the food court, decided not to go in Forever 21 because it was all bright neon-y (not really) colored and too spring-like for me, went in Anchor Blue got two jeans in a $19.99 sale w00t, saw this anime cart started looking through the wallscrolls nothing, staring at the Inuyasha t-shirt but nonono I don’t wear print t-shirts, especially of such a popular male character (but now I’m wishing I had it >b maybe I could have modified it somehow), looked through Sam Ash (?) music store looked through JCPenney’s saw a nice tank but wasn’t in my size looked for a plain white button-up blouse couldn’t find one left.

Muah. That was it. Oh yeah. I saw New Found Glory’s Catalyst (for $15) and Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Fever to Tell (for $13). Am now wishing I had bought the YYYs album. :( But hey, I guess I should say I have some money to deposit in the bank.

We had KFC for dinner. I suggested El Pollo Loco but I guess someone else wanted KFC instead. Oh well. We got a Dale Jr. bucket! XDD I think Mickey wants it. >_> I hope it isn’t too greasy or anything to keep nicely.

I think that’s a nice wrap of my day.

Oh yeah. I saw this headwrap/”scarf” thing at Anchor Blue. It was $6.50, pinkish and yellow/beige, and I was thinking I could use it to tie through my belt loops instead of a heavy belt. Nice touch of pink in my outfit. But I didn’t know at the time that Mum was at the counter how much it cost. Also, it didn’t look like it’d look, er, fluffy enough tied in the belt loops. I’m guessing that’s true. Oh well. Shall have to keep looking diligently for scarves. :)

Also saw lots of knit um, things you pull over your head and it just sits on your shoulders. Kind of like a poncho, but much more stylish. Yeah. See. I was thinking of knitting one of those things for myself. I didn’t even know they were in style again (looking through old Teen mags, they claimed knit things were the fad, although I don’t recall anyone wearing them).

I looked at how this one knit thing was made, and I totally don’t know how that was done. o.o It looked like knit togethers were used and there were huge holes and then everything spread out again (don’t know how, maybe make one or something?) but yeah there were huge holes and I just have no idea how that was done. ^^;; I also don’t know where to get such fine/thin wool. :( I guess I’ll just have to buy it. Or look for an online wool store or something. ^^;

better off alone

I couldn’t fall asleep so I stayed up all night and finished Harry Potter. I think I started at around 600 pages that night. ^^;; About 250 pages in around 300 minutes. Isn’t that pretty good? For all night reading? I dunno, I never did it before. :b

I tried taking in lots of sugar so I wouldn’t fall asleep, but I kept putting my head down and feeling myself slipping … I was really tired and Mommy and Daddy’s bed looked nice, so I rested for a few minutes. >.>

I kept waking myself up and attempting to watch the television . ^.^;;

On IFC there was some animated short, and they were speaking a foreign language, and I got interested, so I watched. Turns out it was Russian. But that’s all I really got out of it. O.o; It was about some guy chasing some tank … and the tank tried shooting him, but missed … and in the end, he gave up, and the tank stopped, reversed, and (I assume) ran over him, even though he created it. After that native kids were playing on the tank half-buried in sand, and a boat offshore was about to bomb it (it was on a test site …), but then the tank came to life and bombed the missiles on the boat so it exploded.

It was really interesting animation. Almost as if someone had painted each and every shot (not painted on a cel, but honest-to-goodness painted). But then the next thing started, and that had even more interesting animation. O_O

It wasn’t as fluid/paint-y as the other one; it didn’t seem as if it was using very advanced techniques. In fact, a lot of the time you were just staring at this one shot for a second, no movement, until they showed the next shot. It really tied in with the whole feel of the short. Because, in my half-awake state, I thought, ‘This is like someone’s dream.’ The beginning said it was about this man who invented an instrument called the glass harmonica, which people loved to listen to, totally enraptured, and this town that worshipped the gold … something. I forget what they called it. But basically … money. I think. o_o; Anyway.

The guy was playing the glass harmonica and people came out of their homes (looked like rows of tents …) to listen, and all their faces (ugly as they were ^^;;;;) were wrapped up in the music. But one of the people listening walked up to the front of the crowd and snapped his fingers and these two other guys showed up beside the musician, and they broke his glass harmonica. ;_; Then the guy did weird stuff with a gold coin/gold coins, and that seemed to be a sign for destruction, ’cause everyone climbed up this clocktower (I think) and pulled stuff out of it.

This one guy who took one of the hands of the clock ran home, tossed it and this woman thing on a pile, and pulled up a chair to an old-fashioned doorlock, where he spied on a guy in a room who had gold coins (he went swimming in them, and choked on one O.o and got it out by turning himself upside down and kicking his butt). The coin rolled out (on its own will) to the man watching, and he chased after it, but the lady thing on the pile came alive and stamped it under her foot. When he tried to get the coin, she turned into a hippo, and he turned into some sort of animal after she stamped at him. Then I fell asleep, I guess (I think they chased each other around), but at the end this kid who was in the first crowd got the glass harmonica back.

Yeah, really odd.

I fell back asleep and then woke up ’cause Mickey was talking about going to Blockbuster. I slept and woke and slept and woke for roughly two hours. O_o; But I went to Blockbuster.

I got the Animatrix. Heh heh. Although I think it’s kind of pointless for me to watch it if I haven’t seen the movies … Oh well!! ^^;; I just really like the animation … I saw the second one in multimedia, and I saw this one that reminded me of Serial Experiments Lain on some Mtv channel. I liked the latter one better.

I also went with Mommy to Petco, and we went awwwww at the guinea pigs they had. :P They had this one that was red all over. Even its eyes were red; they were those albino kind of eyes where they’re pink. And there was another one, which Mommy called a “Dutch Absynnian.” So cuuute! I wanted to pet them so much T-T But they were in the cases … They cost $30 each. O_O!! Oh yeah, the chinchillas raised in price as well; they now cost $160. x.x;; I found out that Flower (the original Flower) was pregnant at 4 weeks old (poor baby! ;_; literally) when Mommy got her. :(
