end

Went to get my eyes checked today. Read a good bit of Count of Monte Cristo there. ^-^ My doctor said he tried reading it once, after this list of books came out that showed the minimum titles needed to be read to be considered literate. Err … dunno how to put that any better. He said after three months, he resigned himself to being an idiot. XD And now he reads Harry Potter. :P

Last night I read Preludes & Nocturnes. Wai wai, so cooool! ^___^ And then I got to meet Death in issue #8. W00T!!! XD

Super-cali-fragil-istic-expi-ali-docious. Utterly fantabulous word, huh? It means, y’know, great. Wonderful. Ginchy. Gnarly. Peachy Keen!

That was my feeble attempt at recreating comic’s lettering technique. ^^;; Ah well.

Death: “… gets me down, too. Mostly they aren’t too keen to see me. They fear the sunless lands. But they enter your realm each night withought fear.”
Dream: “And I am far more terrible than you, my sister.”

Dream is uber cool too. :D

“I find myself wondering about humanity. Their attitude to my sister’s gift is so strange. Why do they fear the sunless lands? It is as natural to die as it is to be born. But they fear her. Dread her. Feebly they attempt to placate her. They do not love her.”

So said Dream. ^_^ Ooh, then in the recap in The Doll’s House, Neil Gaiman said, “… the Dream Lord is of the Endless, the race that are not Gods (for Gods die, when their believers are gone, but the Endless will be here when the last God has gone beyond the Realm of Death, and into non-existance)….” American Gods! :D:D

Hm, I wonder if God saves copies of other gods like he saves the ideas of fairies and leprachauns and unicorns …

Now I’ve got 12 more graphic novels to buy. >D #3–10 of The Sandman series, the two sidestories about Death, a collection of short stories about each of the Endless, and this comic about Japanese fables that Gaiman wrote and Yoshitaka Amano illustrated. *_* Must haave!

computer, floats, site stuff, a poem

Hm. How interesting. I left my laptop to eat dinner, and when I came back the screen was black, as that’s the screensaver I prefer. I touch the touchpad and the screen switches to a lighter shade of black. Yupyup. It meant my screen went blank. So I took out the battery and unplugged the ac adapter. As I unplugged it my laptop went “MEEEEEEW!” in a high-pitched tone, fading away at the end. O.o Is my laptop trying to talk to me again? (One time Daddy was trying to print something from my laptop and it said something like, “The printer cannot be found” even though I had the sound turned off. o.o) But anyway. Isn’t it stupid that my screen goes blank when I’m not even using it? >_< Grrrr.

Today went to Burger King with Mommy and got frozen floats. Woo, yummy! :D It’s half Icee and half ice cream. A real float. XD And it’s yummyy!! It costs $1.59 though. x_x

Also ordered from Amazon tonight. Finally! I got The Cardigans’ You’re the Storm single with Hold Me on it, yaay!, Flower Drum Song by C. Y. Lee, Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coehlo, Chobits vol. 7, and “Prelude and Nocturnes” (Sandman book 1). w00t. :D Yes, I seem a bit obsessed with Neil Gaiman, don’t I? Fuuun. ^-^

*ahem* Yeah. Site stuff: I am stuck on what else to write for SMC. o_o I’ve got “background,” “Christ,” and “personality.” Not much in personality, either. -.- Ahaha! Uhh … yeah. I do mean the section I’m writing, not me. :b I don’t know what else to write about. It’s been such a long time since I started this remake that I forgot all the sections I wanted to do. ^^;;;

Concerning the IAT layout: trying to figure out why the placement of things changes when the size of the browser window changes. O_o And also, as soon as I get around to it, I’ll put up a new layout here. ^^;; I feel like making a traditional blog layout complete with sidebar and such. Go me. :b

Now to close this, a poem Neil Gaiman wrote entitled (I assume), “Reading the Entrails: A Rondel”

They’ll call it chance, or luck, or call it Fate—
The cards and stars that tumble as they will.
Tomorrow manifests and brings the bill
For every kiss and kill, the small and great.
You want to know the future, love? Then wait:
I’ll answer your impatient questions. Still—
They’ll call it chance, or luck, or call it Fate,
The cards and stars that tumble as they will.

I’ll come to you tonight, dear, when it’s late,
You will not see me; you may feel a chill.
I’ll wait until you sleep, then take my fill,
And that will be your future on a plate.
They’ll call it chance, or luck, or call it Fate.

pink layouts, emperors, and a Sandman quote

You know what’s odd? I’ve been to … three different bookstores, and all three had only one volume of The Sandman series, and not the same one, either. And most definitely not the first one, either, otherwise I’d have it. >:

Today I finished the new layout for my diary (which you are still not allowed to read, SM00). I think I got tired of the black and darkness of the Tsuda layout, because this one’s PINK, and has white text. Well, it’s kind of a salmon/red pink. Not too bad, I don’t think. I don’t really know, I don’t hate pink, so I can’t tell if it’s bad or not. The only thing I don’t like is that I needed almost 15 images to make the layout, and I used div layers. ^^’ I’ve got a policy for my diary: simple coding, few images, simple layouts. It’s ’cause I use Netscape 4.5 (or is it 4.7?) to update my diary. Ah well. Maybe I’ll get tired of it quickly.

After dinner watched The Last Emperor with Mommy. O_O Umm … Good movie. Very. Asians look kinda cute in 20s/30s styles. ^__^ I want a haircut kinda like that wannabe pilot lady. Not so short in the back, though … I’m talking about the one she had when she first showed up. I didn’t know there was a Manchuria during World War II. Saw some footage … asked Mommy, and she said it’s probably real. *shudders* She asked, “What’s worse? The killing of [I forget the number] by one person or one million killing 200,000?”

Mm. Anyway.

“Without individuals we see only numbers: a thousand dead, a hundred thousand dead, ‘casualties may rise to a million.’ With individual stories, the statistics become people—but even that is a lie, for the people continue to suffer in numbers that themselves are numbing and meaningless. Look, see the child’s swollen, swollen belly, and the flies that crawl at the corners of his eyes, his skeletal limbs: will it make it easier for you to know his name, his age, his dreams, his fears? To see him from the inside? And if it does, are we not doing a disservice to his sister, who lies in the searing dust beside him, a distorted, distended caricature of a human child? And there, if we feel for them, are they now more important to us than a thousand other children touched by the same famine, a thousand other young lives who will soon be food for the flies’ own myriad squirming children?”
Neil Gaiman, American Gods

You know … that doesn’t make much sense to me. Of course, it can’t help that both times I read it was after midnight. But it’s still worded so nicely …

layouts, games, and book shopping

Ummm … *is in the middle of changing the layout* Lookie, mah birthday prezzie from Noelle. :D:D:D:D So cool! Pun not intended. ^^;;; Kawaii kitty, no?

Oh yeah, the Japanese reminds me. When we were coming home there was a commercial on the radio for some new store. This isn’t the whole name, just the part I remember. :b I heard them say “The Shishi Store.” I was sitting there thinking I must have heard it wrong, and then Daddy said, “Did they just say The Shishi Store?” ^_^;;;;;; So hah! I didn’t imagine it! XP And uhh … I don’t wanna explain. >.>; *moves along*

Today I followed Mickey to his room and asked if I could play with the GCN. We played Tetris Worlds. :D Weird setup, though … it’s kind of like, how far can you stray from the simple game of stacking tetraminos while still stacking tetraminos? And for some reason, I kept landing blocks one space off from where I meant them to go. >.< Annoying. He kept goading me. ^^;;; I’m not very good at Tetris anymore … *sniffles* I was always two or so levels behind him. Pooh.

After we played two or three neverending games @_@ (Mickey: When does this end? Me: Now. *quits*) we played The Sims. Bwahaha, I’m one level higher than he is in our house. >b He kept poking fun at me because of my bathroom though. >.> (Mickey: Who has the cleaner bathroom? Me: At least I don’t have flies flying around my toilet! Mickey: Those are your pet flies. They’re by your room. Me: Yeah well at least my bathroom doesn’t stink.)

Went to Barnes and Noble. *.* Their manga/comic section can look pretty nice when it’s cleaned up. Of course, it’s still only two shelves worth of space, but better than nothing. Everything was all out of order. I would have straightened it out (my fingers were just itching to put everything in order), but I was carrying food from Tony Roma’s, and plastic is loud when other people are reading. o.o

Got this one manga, forget what it’s called, read about it in my Waldenbooks e-mail thingimabobber. It’s “controversial.” :b Also got Kare Kano 3 (dunno why, not that into the series), Neil Gaiman’s Smoke and Mirrors (waiii!), Why Girls Are Weird (about this girl who posts made-up diary entries online, and what happens because of it o.O), aaaand … The Art of Charles Schultz. w00t! XD $25. o_o But it’s Charles Schuuultz! It has his older comics and stuff. Mommy says they’re not as funny. But they’re cute. Yup! ^-^

I spent, in total, $81.11. ._. Okay, new rule. No wandering around bookstores after I’ve got two or three or four books! x_x

Spent the rest of the night working on my First Band on the Moon fanlisting. Woo! :D I was working on the Other Side of the Moon fanlisting, but then I got tired of coding/writing, so I went to look at Noelle’s present. X) And it led me here. Muahaha.

I changed the coding a bit, though. Put the entries in a div tag, instead of in an inline frame. (Used frames for L.S layout, don’t wanna do that again any time soon. x_x)

Oh yeah. :D New layout at Literal Scars. Woo! Dunno how good it is though. I always tend to like my really not-so-normal stuff, and then it turns out that there’s something wrong with it. :( Oh well. Poem! (on the layout) “I need to have loved you. I need to have told you so.” Whyyy can’t I write like that?

Oh yeah. Went to this person’s writing site. I like her poems. ^^; All three she’s got up there. Especially the first one. ^^ Kind of makes me want to create my own writing site (one separate from my art). But I don’t have nearly enough of anything for it.

Anyway, anyway … now on to fixing up the tagboard for the layout. And after that I think I’ll leave the OSOTM fanlisting for when I wake up.

Neverwhere and some tv viewing

I am very bored by my blog right now. Why? I dunno.

About 2 or 3 hours I tried to click on some window on my laptop, and the display froze. >.< I amazed myself. I was very cool and very collected and just picked up Neverwhere and started reading. XP I’ve started chapter eleven. O_O HOW COULD HE/SHE/IT?!?!?! *bangs* Not right, I say! Nooot riiiiiight! >.< Wooo. Two-thirds through the book. XD I started reading last Saturday, too.

“What,” asked Mr. Croup, “do you want?”
“What,” asked the marquis de Carabas, a little more rhetorically, “does anyone want?”
“Dead things,” suggested Mr. Vandamar. “Extra teeth.”
Neil Gaiman, Neverwhere

XDDD That makes me like Mr. Vandamar a bit more … that is … if I could like him. O_o

So, what I watched last night … The Panic Room, which I liked, good fun movie (“Get out of my house!” “Say fuck.” “What? Fuck!” O.o “No, say ‘Get the fuck out of my house!'” “Get the fuck out of my house!” haha! that was great) … and Dead Like Me, which was funnay! (“She doesn’t like the word moist because she thinks it sounds pornographic.” XP) Also, last Friday, Mommy and I watched Far From Heaven, which was interesting. Not anything fantabulous, though.
