Happy cows?

Awwies, PETA’s a bunch of meanies. Blegh.

How green is their valley? Do they even have a valley? A lawsuit filed on Wednesday by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals challenges whether the California dairy industry’s award-winning ad campaign featuring “Happy Cows” frolicking in verdant pastures is false advertising. The suit, filed in San Francisco, asks a Superior Court judge to order the California Milk Advisory Board to permanently suspend its two-year-old television and print advertising campaign.

I mean, they have a point. But I never thought that all the cows wandered in green valleys. ^_^;; I mean, how many green valleys are there in California? All I can think of is the San Fernando Valley and that’s not green at all. And the one by Noelle’s house, if that is a valley … I’m not sure … it looks like a desert.

But those commercials are so cuuute! XD “Foot massage! Ahhhhh! *earthquake goes by* … Darn, those never last long enough.” Heehee. ^_^

*pokes Santa’s round belly*

Bwahaha! Take that Santy Claus! ^-^;;;;

Fed-Up Priest Starts ‘Santa-Free Zone’

A German priest fed up with the growing commercialism of Christmas launched an anti-Santa Claus campaign on Thursday featuring bumper stickers that proclaim: “This is a Santa-free zone.”

Eckhard Bieger, a Roman Catholic priest in Frankfurt, said he is all for the holiday season, gift exchanges and family celebrations. But he believes the twinkly-eyed old man in a red costume is a commercial fraud.

“Santa Claus is a creation of the advertising industry and Coca-Cola to further commercial interests,” Bieger told Reuters.

“I don’t have anything against Christmas presents and don’t want to disappoint children,” he said. “My aim is to put St Nicholas back at the center of attention rather than this Santa Claus figure, which is just an empty shell.”

Swedish-American Artist Haddon Sundblom created the rosy-cheeked Santa used in Coca-Cola’s Christmas advertisements in 1931, and Bieger complained that it has been imitated ever since.

Christina Jacob, spokeswoman for Coke’s Germany subsidiary Coca-Cola GmbH, said the company was proud Sundblom had created the Santa Claus character the world knows today for the Coca-Cola ad campaigns used during the 1930s and 1940s.

“Sundblom used a cheery-faced Coca-Cola truck driver as his model for the portrait,” said Jacob, who had not heard of the Frankfurt priest’s campaign. “We’re naturally all proud that Coca-Cola is so closely entwined with the Christmas season.”

The modern Santa is a far cry from the severe St Nicholas who meted out punishment or gifts to children in continental Europe or the Old Christmas figure who aided drunken festivities of the English.

Bieger has distributed some 5,000 anti-Santa stickers. The stickers portray a Santa figure dressed in red with a circle and bar crossing the image — similar to the international signs for “nuclear-free zone” and “no smoking.”

“The children should be at the center of attention. We need to focus more on core values and less on commercialism.”

Bieger said he wanted to revive a tradition in which St Nicholas went from house to house on the night of December 6 and put sweets into shoes of well-behaved children.

all the songs we used to know

Uh. New layout! ^_^ I guess it’s okay. Not exactly what I feel I’m capable of doing, but meh for a simplish layout I guess I’m satisfied. I don’t know who the lady is. I just found the picture looking through galleries of female celebrities. ^^;; It fit the song I wanted to use, so I grabbed it. And look, red text! XP~ *luvvers her red* Uhh. Can’t think of what else to write about it. o_o

Okay, here’re the things that are worrying me, in short list form: me and Matt and shtuff, college, driving test, English paper, Art History quiz, finals, next semester’s classes, music ear-training exam

Oh! Earlier, in the van on the way home I finished Ender’s Shadow. w00t! XD Now I just have to wait until Christmas to read all the other books. :( But anyway that’s beside the point. For some reason I almost started to cry when I finished. ^.^; I have absolutely no idea why! Ahhh, such a good booki, I luvver that booki. Muah! But I still don’t know why it’d make me tear up. ^_^; I thought maybe I’d cry this time, but then I figured having a crying teen in the car would be kind of irrrr for Auntie and Uncle. ^^;;; And Mommy and Daddy when I got home. And Mickey and Hidek and Tadash and SM00 and Noelle and everyone else in my family, because it’d eventually get around. Blah. Anyway. Yeah. So I swallowed a lot. :b

GCN card and Animal Crossing

^_^ I got a Memory Card 251. Erm, I think that’s what it’s called … anyway, yeah, I got the really big one. :D It cost only $5 more than the 59 card. Moved all the stuff from my other card onto this one. I had Luigi’s Mansion, Simpson’s Road Rage, and Super Smash Bros. on it. Um. I think it had a fourth thing on it. I forget. Well now I have a partially filled card and an empty card. Heh. Maybe I’ll make another town on that empty one. :b~ I dunno.

I named my town Snoopye. I put the e at the end because I didn’t want to have people say stuff like “You’re moving into Snoopy?” ^_^;; Nooo, I live outside of Snoopy! I just live in a town named after him! ^_~ Eh yeah. And I named my character Miki. Hehe. My name’s the first on the list. :D No accidentally choosing someone else’s character … ^.^;

Animal Crossing influence

I keep thinking this Japanese doll (Japanese bobblehead XD) is one of those figurines in Animal Crossing. O_o Well, too chubby.

On … whatever day Tadash went to Blockbuster … Wednesday or Thursday … I kept wanting to tell him to not walk through the flowers! He was playing Star Fox. o.o; Yeah. Hey. I just realized. At least I didn’t feel like catching the fish he saw. Maybe because they weren’t blue. XP Yeah anyway.
