validation

I’m getting interested in XHTML and validating my sites, because two people (whose journals I read on the sly) are all gungho … gung-ho … I dunno how to spell it … my typing skills are going down. Blah. Two people are really pushing it in their journals. Since I like being right, I figured I’d try it some time.

I tried it tonight. I don’t want to use Transitional, I want to use Strict. (For I am teh stubborn that way. :b) Um, I don’t know how many errors I started out with, forgot to check, but uh, I got it down to 63. ^_^;; (I’m sure there were more than 100.) So! That’s something else I could busy myself with; trying to find out how to correct these errors. (Maybe I should stop using tables for my date headers. Ehehe. And figure out how to mix tags and XHTML and Javascript.)

The good news, though, is that my CSS validates. Ahaha. Very good.

The coding for my hit counters/trackers are reeeeeally outdated, as well. Hm. Wonder how far that “Do not change the coding or your account will be terminated” legality thing goes. “But, but, but, I was just updating your coding! It was still essentially the same!” Heh. :b

little things

Some little things:

  • I don’t know why I can comment on SM00’s blog some times, and other times I can’t.
  • I can’t figure out how to make GM build my old archived entries. So only entries 230-now work, and only the month of February works. >.<
  • Entry 227 is marked as “closed” even though the entry saved on my hard drive is marked as “open” and no matter how many times I upload the one on my hard drive to my website it still says it’s “closed” in GM.
  • All the other entries that aren’t viewable are all marked as “extended entries.” Even though when I go to edit the darn things, there is absolutely nothing in the “more” section.
  • Oh yeah. New archives layout. It’s Chevelle. :) I’m liking their song Comfortable Liar. Not the lyrics, just the music. ^_^ Same with Jimmy Eat World’s “Get It Faster.” I don’t favor the lyrics, but I looove the music. Get It Faster is playing on KROQ now. XD So much fun.
  • I know absolutely nothing about Sakurazawa Erika, and yet I was accepted by the TFL to run the fanlisting. >_> ^^; Hey, I wanna join the fanlisting, but one doesn’t exist. So … I’ll make one! Even though I didn’t know her name was Sakurazawa Erika … <.< *coughcough*
  • I figured out why the borders wouldn’t show up in Mozilla/Netscape. It was ’cause I had “1” instead of “1px.” ^^;; Stupid accomodating MSIE.

Umm … that is all. I think.

working on layout; moodtheme; Alice in Chains

I’ma working on a new layout for IAT. Yay! ^^ The last layout I made was in mid-September … o.o And I think this one is very fall-y as well. O_o Not very good. But OH WELL! I was never one to follow the seasons and stuff anyway. :b

So. I’m taking a break from it because I’m pausing to give my brain a rest before I have to figure out the HTML for making a full-size div in a frame, without a background-image, but stationary images that serve as the background, and an image that hovers over the text, but not the scrollbar. *takes a deep breath* It sounds simpler when I type it out. ^^;; Ah well.

I’m also working on an Amy Lee moodtheme set. ^^’ I have about 8 of the moods set. ^.^;; About 50 random pictures that I have to assign to moods, and a few I’ll probably end up tossing out because there isn’t a mood for it, LJ doesn’t have that mood, or because there are too many pictures of her like that. XP

*ahem* I forgot that I didn’t post this. O.o *10:44 now*

So the HTML is all written up. ^.^ Yay! Now I just have to change all the other pages. Oh yeah, I also have to write the css up.

Umm … at the moment I have most all the Alice in Chains songs from their Greatest Hits album checked to record to my compi. ^^. Yeah. I like their songs a bit more than I thought I would. Or maybe … I dunno. Maybe it’s because it’s their greatest hits. :b Yeah.

Well I’m gonna go finish up putting the IAT layout together. XD So fun. I realized, recently, I think I like writing the HTML more than I like working on the layout in a graphics editor. *shrug*

we said goodnight

I want a new layout. o_O That girl is bugging me now. Quit staaaaring at me!!!

Well, I think I have a nice EGL pic … think because ever since I downloaded NS 4.7something (which I use for e-mail … NS 7 be slooow … and Outlook Express = faulty), all my JPEG images get saved with a .jpe extension. O_< Half the time it’s recognized as a JPEG and tries to open in PSP, then says it’s not a supported file. The rest of the time it’s marked as an unknown file so I can just rename it and add “.jpg” to the end. Now is not one of those times. -.-;; So I’ve got the data on my compi. But it’s under the wrong file extension!! GAH! Well, I could either set folder preferences to show extensions of known files and rename the extensions, or open Photoshop and resave them. But I’m too lazy and/or busy at the moment. ^^;;; Oh yeah, the third way is to go to the site and resave them (adding .jpg BEFORE I save), but since I had a hard time finding the site last time … and since I found out that the site sells mainly 18+ stuff mostly … o_O I don’t wanna go find it again.

So. Anyway. Uh. I’m kinda studying for Art History. Writing down the terms and definitions. Also have to write down pertinent info on the Greek sculptures. Um. Yeah. I’m kinda almost done. ^^;; One more day tomorrow to study.

Yay, I got a WMV version of My Immortal. ^-^ Now I just need to get something to get screencaptures of WMV files. >_> Such a pretty song … prettty …

And … Ben Moody left Evanescence officially. Wahhhh!!! ;_; So sad!

[trigger warning: suicide]

The movie I wanna see right now is Jisatsu Circle. AKA Suicide Club. ^_^;; It’s a … horror/commentary film. Yes. A bloody film that questions the state of Japanese society. Sound familiar? (Battle Royale … which I still need to see … x_x) But, as this one site says, “…it’s almost a pure antithesis of Battle Royale, in which the adults felt threatened by the youth.” And it has the guy from Mystery Train. ^_^;

This site talks about the plot and stuff. It also pretty much gives away the ending. >_> But then again, I guess it isn’t really the ending that you watch the movie for … ^.^ “Opening with a notorious sequence concerning an exceptionally bloody mass suicide of 54 schoolgirls under a Tokyo-bound train….” Yeah. ^^; Oh yeah. It’s kinda sorta really gruesome, so … if you just ate (which I had, when I read it x_<) don’t go, unless you like the feeling of nausea. (And, I am also not the type of person to get nauseous. I can count on one hand the number of times in my life I felt that way. So … yeah.)

Then this site‘s review says it’s too confusing, that it’s only worth it to see the extreme gore. ^^;; Maaaybe. :) (Amazon has it for $21, region 1 … Region 0s on ebay for … $10 or more. And a SC/BR pack for $20. ^^ Hmmm …)

stupid arguments, books, and parking

(Everyone knows I don’t treat the subect titles seriously, right? Good.)

This is how tired I am. I read “Warning: mysql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid …” as stupid argument. o_o Oh well. I dunno what’s wrong. ^^;; And I’m too lazy to contact support.I was getting bored with it anyway. Ahaha. I got rid of the table border lines, and I have no idea how. o_o Couldn’t figure out how to make them come back, either. ¬_¬

Guess what guess what! I’m about 40 pages from finishing TMIAHM!! XD I don’t fully understand why it won a Hugo award, though. I like his Time Enough for Love better. A little bit better. Not that much.

I also started reading The F***-Up (no the title is not really censored), which I bought two Fridays ago. On Saturday I also started and completed For All Time. :b I’d been waiting the loongest time to read that. And I think it’s a less than stellar ending. :( Oh well. Then I read Death: At Death’s Door. ^^; Why did I start those three titles? Hm. Because of another title. Namely, Art History, volume I 2nd edition. x_X

Anyway. Back to TFU. I forget when I’d heard about it before. Maybe two or three years before. But uh … yeah. I just saw it sitting at Waldenbooks in the manga section, and since I didn’t see anything else I wanted, I bought it. ^_^; I like the beginning. I’ve read only two or four pages, and it’s rather interesting. But I put it down to try and force myself to read art history. Picked up For All Time instead. :b

Today … when we got to the car after classes, this car was parked on the driver’s side … waaay over the line. Another two inches or so and it could have whacked off the side mirror. I asked Noelle, “How am I supposed to get in there?” and this girl in the parking lot said, “I was thinking that just a second ago.” Ahaha. But you know, I really don’t have a right to be mad since I’m not a good parker either. ^^;; Then again, I never leave my car when it’s sitting on (or OVER) the line or if it’ll be hard for the car next to me to get in or out. Urgh.
