tv, Wedding Banquet; reading; The Sims!

Today was a television day. ^^;;; I didn’t intend to do that, though.

Last night before I went to bed I was attracted by my Barnes & Noble bags. ^^; Pulled out Why Girls are Weird. Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that much reading a book. I mean, they weren’t rip-roaring, huge guffaws. But a slow, steady, stream of laughter. I reeeeally like that book. :D I read like the first 20 or 30 pages then. >.>

Today I woke up so tired, I couldn’t concentrate on reading like I wanted. I watched a lot of IFC. One movie ended (in fact they played the Box Scores just a little while after I started watching). Played a short film afterwards. Wow, it was interesting. o_o Hidek walked by and saw the screen and asked, “What are you watching?!” Baptism of Solitude, it was. Paul Bowles. Very cool. Never heard of him before, but still cool.

The Wedding Banquet started playing in the next time slot, so I watched that for 109 minutes. Yeah. I don’t see how that’s a comedy. O_o But still good. I noticed that the parts where they spoke English, I had to pay more attention than when I read the captions. ^^;;

After that went downstairs and ate leftovers of dinner last night. Daddy started watching Mr. Deeds. He left to get Jichan’s steel cabinet, so I watched it. Why? I have absolutely no idea. I guess it’s refreshing to see Adam Sandler in a rather clean movie. ^^;; Tried watching MTV2, MTV Hits, VH1, and VH1 Classic again, as I usually do. Settled for Topsy Turvy. The attempts at being Japanese cracked me up. ^_^;;;

Played The Sims after. Started playing with the Goth family. Failing miserably. -_-

Watched The Adventures of Pete and Pete with Mickey. I didn’t mean to. I just sat on the sofa and opened my book, but every time I got caught up in the episode. ^.^;;

Some time during the day I felt so tired that I just laid down on the floor and closed my eyes. I thought, ‘Hm, like The Sim— O_O’ x.x; And I haven’t really been playing all that much, either. Just maybe a couple hours every day. Not anything like Animal Crossing. x.x Although I don’t remember much from that period. ^^;;;

Trying to find the little quote thing that showed up at the beginning of Baptism of Solitude. I have no idea what I’m looking for, though, so … X( Pointless. Found this though. I like it. :D

“Because we don’t know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustable well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that is so deeply part of your being that you can’t even conceive of your life without it. Perhaps four or five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps 20. And yet it all seems limitless.”
–Paul Bowles, from The Sheltering Sky

you and I both know

Okay! Finally. New layout. :b I spent most of my computer time working on this today. *breathes* And I’m so happy! :D Well, okay, I guess it’s a weird layout. >.> I made it, so hey, that explains it. Yup. Anyway … I had bunches of stuff I wanted to say about it. Lessee. I used Adobe Photoshop to make it. :) Well, for the most part. I used PSP to make the red part. ^^;; I’m still more sure of myself in PSP than PS, so … yeah.

I also learned (finally) how to use that image slicer. :D That’s why there’re so many images to load. ^^;; This one site I was looking at said slicing up images doesn’t make it load any faster, but it loads faster in the person’s mind, because the mind fills in the empty parts of the image as it’s loading. I thought that was interesting. But then I looked at the coding that was spilled out x_x and now I wonder, doesn’t that take a longer time to load? Mm. Dunno. Oh well. What else … Side scrolling! Hopefully that doesn’t annoy tooo many people. >_> ^^;;;; Sorry, I just like the look of it. Maybe I’m less annoyed by them because my touchpad lets me scroll sideways on the bottom. ^.^; So sorry.

Um. Look! See gif? Is fading away to the bottom! :D:D I think it was more trouble than it was worth, though. :/ And about the words at the top … I didn’t know what to call it, and “spuger” (kinda like booger :b) came to mind. But then I found out it’s a real thing (Yahoo search) so I changed it to spugey (now like “pukey”). And “reyal” came from me first calling it a royal mess, but I thought that was insulting to any royals, so I changed it to reyal (and I think it’s a word in Spanish, but I didn’t look it up ^^;;). So, yeah, that’s it.

On to the next thing. Mommy reminded me about the thing on channel 5, so I watched it. She knew about it ’cause KTLA Morning News had a spot on it or something. Evanescence was on last. (“You have to watch the lesser bands first,” Mommy said :b) W00t! And Gregory Smith and what’s-her-name hosted it. o.o Yay! Gregory Smith!! XP

Evanescence performed two songs, Going Under and Bring Me to Life. Mommy asked if they were really playing or if it was a recording, because “it sounds so good!” Yaay! :D And I think I wanna be Amy Lee. o_o;; I wanna sing like her; I wanna design clothes like her; I wanna be her. O_o I never wanted to be anyone else before. Oh well. I wanna sing like her!! *cries*

tv viewing

So yesterday night, at 10, I watched Dead Like Me. :D It was a saddish episode though. :( She cried ’cause she can’t have her life back. I don’t know if Monk was new or not. >.> I had to take a bath anyway. And I also missed The Dead Zone on Sunday. >.< Dangit! I forgot alll about it. Seriously, I looked at the time and it was about 10:30 and I had no thoughts about it. Urg.

better off alone

I couldn’t fall asleep so I stayed up all night and finished Harry Potter. I think I started at around 600 pages that night. ^^;; About 250 pages in around 300 minutes. Isn’t that pretty good? For all night reading? I dunno, I never did it before. :b

I tried taking in lots of sugar so I wouldn’t fall asleep, but I kept putting my head down and feeling myself slipping … I was really tired and Mommy and Daddy’s bed looked nice, so I rested for a few minutes. >.>

I kept waking myself up and attempting to watch the television . ^.^;;

On IFC there was some animated short, and they were speaking a foreign language, and I got interested, so I watched. Turns out it was Russian. But that’s all I really got out of it. O.o; It was about some guy chasing some tank … and the tank tried shooting him, but missed … and in the end, he gave up, and the tank stopped, reversed, and (I assume) ran over him, even though he created it. After that native kids were playing on the tank half-buried in sand, and a boat offshore was about to bomb it (it was on a test site …), but then the tank came to life and bombed the missiles on the boat so it exploded.

It was really interesting animation. Almost as if someone had painted each and every shot (not painted on a cel, but honest-to-goodness painted). But then the next thing started, and that had even more interesting animation. O_O

It wasn’t as fluid/paint-y as the other one; it didn’t seem as if it was using very advanced techniques. In fact, a lot of the time you were just staring at this one shot for a second, no movement, until they showed the next shot. It really tied in with the whole feel of the short. Because, in my half-awake state, I thought, ‘This is like someone’s dream.’ The beginning said it was about this man who invented an instrument called the glass harmonica, which people loved to listen to, totally enraptured, and this town that worshipped the gold … something. I forget what they called it. But basically … money. I think. o_o; Anyway.

The guy was playing the glass harmonica and people came out of their homes (looked like rows of tents …) to listen, and all their faces (ugly as they were ^^;;;;) were wrapped up in the music. But one of the people listening walked up to the front of the crowd and snapped his fingers and these two other guys showed up beside the musician, and they broke his glass harmonica. ;_; Then the guy did weird stuff with a gold coin/gold coins, and that seemed to be a sign for destruction, ’cause everyone climbed up this clocktower (I think) and pulled stuff out of it.

This one guy who took one of the hands of the clock ran home, tossed it and this woman thing on a pile, and pulled up a chair to an old-fashioned doorlock, where he spied on a guy in a room who had gold coins (he went swimming in them, and choked on one O.o and got it out by turning himself upside down and kicking his butt). The coin rolled out (on its own will) to the man watching, and he chased after it, but the lady thing on the pile came alive and stamped it under her foot. When he tried to get the coin, she turned into a hippo, and he turned into some sort of animal after she stamped at him. Then I fell asleep, I guess (I think they chased each other around), but at the end this kid who was in the first crowd got the glass harmonica back.

Yeah, really odd.

I fell back asleep and then woke up ’cause Mickey was talking about going to Blockbuster. I slept and woke and slept and woke for roughly two hours. O_o; But I went to Blockbuster.

I got the Animatrix. Heh heh. Although I think it’s kind of pointless for me to watch it if I haven’t seen the movies … Oh well!! ^^;; I just really like the animation … I saw the second one in multimedia, and I saw this one that reminded me of Serial Experiments Lain on some Mtv channel. I liked the latter one better.

I also went with Mommy to Petco, and we went awwwww at the guinea pigs they had. :P They had this one that was red all over. Even its eyes were red; they were those albino kind of eyes where they’re pink. And there was another one, which Mommy called a “Dutch Absynnian.” So cuuute! I wanted to pet them so much T-T But they were in the cases … They cost $30 each. O_O!! Oh yeah, the chinchillas raised in price as well; they now cost $160. x.x;; I found out that Flower (the original Flower) was pregnant at 4 weeks old (poor baby! ;_; literally) when Mommy got her. :(

nothing left to say

Okay. New layout! Ehehe. I got it from the cover of The China Garden by Liz Berry. Copyrights and stuff under credits. ^^;; Anyway … I’m not sure the lyrics fit the image (they’re, uhh … The Corrs’ “Give It All Up”) but I couldn’t find anything better … in other words I searched for a few minutes and got lazy. XP Oh well.

Other layout got boring. Even with the wraparound text it’s still image here, text to the side. And this layout is the same, just reversed, but it’s still new, so it’ll stay up for, oh, say a couple of days. :b But I still like the other layout … Mikako … and pnik :b … and Ai Yazawa … but the coding/placement got boring. So yeah.

On Tuesday night Mommy got me to watch Dead Like Me. :D Funny show. Not just funny. It’s interesting. It’s not … plain humor. I like the actor who plays George. Or is it Georgia? *didn’t pay much attention* Whyyyy did they put it on at 11 at night?! And then … the regular airtime from now on is Fridays at TEN. ;_; That’s Monk time!!! *wails* Unfaaair!
