save it for another day

Woo. New layout. Don’t know how I feel about it … ^^’ Don’t know if it’s a sunrise or a sunset. :b And the blob-y thing-y is the shape of a moth I took a picture of … yeah … ._. So it’s up in the air! Erm, how I feel about my layout, not the moth.

Got tired of changing everything, so … all the subpages and stuff probably look a little off. Although I doubt people look at those things. Oh well. Greymatter is getting on my nerves. ^^;; Yupyup. See … usually I remember to uncheck the “Automatically rebuild all files” option after editting the sidebar … but then this time I didn’t … so I lost a few minutes waiting for everything to rebuild. x_x;; And I keep getting “Cannot find server” pages after changing something. I’m pretty sure it has to do with my site being on a Windows server instead of Linux. Windows doesn’t like cgi much, or something … or you can’t set permissions with files. Yeah … I forget. Oh well.

I was gonna use SSI to put in the sidebar, but then I looked at my stats and it says 10 people have visited this site (this index page) using Netscape 3. o_o;;; But then again, the sidebar isn’t that important. So maybe I’ll switch it tomorrow. :) Let’s just hope no one’s been linking to fs.net/index.html.

Also found out, looking at my extreme tracker, that someone found this site looking for “de-hooved horses.” o_O I figured out where it came from (NOFX’s lyrics ^^;;), but still … it’s a weird thing to be searching for … Ooh! And from the 18th of July to the 27th I got an average of 4 hits per day, then from the 28th to the 4th of August I got an average of 22, then 10 on the 5th :( then 46 the next day. Wooo. :b Did SM00/Adam/Amanda have some thing going on or what?

Now, to close this entry, a link to pictures of Lizzie Borden’s dad and stepmom. ‘Cause SM00 told me to put dead people on my blog and I said I’d link to some pictures. :b

you don’t do anything

Ugh. If it’s not my laptop display freezing, or the wireless networking not working for some weird unknown reason, of course it has to be power outages that render the modem incapable of connecting. -.-;; It’s really stupid. Ever since Daddy installed the wireless network, the entire upstairs has been having power shortages, and lights will dim, tvs will blink off for a split second, and the computers go on the battery backup (complete with BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! buzzzz).

In the past few weeks, the power even stays off for minutes on end, and nothing works. Today the power was out for a little while. It came back after 20 or so minutes. But now, for some reason, the internet cuts off and I get disconnected from the network. That means the modem and network router both get cut from the power supply somehow. O.< And I keep connecting and disconnecting and so I couldn’t say how many “Cannot find server” pages I got today. -_-

To top it off, even after the modem and/or router start working again, my laptop doesn’t pick up on the network signal for a few minutes. I have no idea why. At Noelle’s house it connects aut-o-mat-i-cal-ly. ¬_¬

Spent most of today working on a new layout for IAT. :D Since it’s the only thing to do, really, on my laptop sans internet. >_> First I was making it a frames layout, then figured it’d be less to load if I did it tables, since the “background” is 25 or so small images, and use side-scrolling and pop-ups. So now I’m writing up the stuff and messing around with div positioning. ^^;; How fuun.

pink layouts, emperors, and a Sandman quote

You know what’s odd? I’ve been to … three different bookstores, and all three had only one volume of The Sandman series, and not the same one, either. And most definitely not the first one, either, otherwise I’d have it. >:

Today I finished the new layout for my diary (which you are still not allowed to read, SM00). I think I got tired of the black and darkness of the Tsuda layout, because this one’s PINK, and has white text. Well, it’s kind of a salmon/red pink. Not too bad, I don’t think. I don’t really know, I don’t hate pink, so I can’t tell if it’s bad or not. The only thing I don’t like is that I needed almost 15 images to make the layout, and I used div layers. ^^’ I’ve got a policy for my diary: simple coding, few images, simple layouts. It’s ’cause I use Netscape 4.5 (or is it 4.7?) to update my diary. Ah well. Maybe I’ll get tired of it quickly.

After dinner watched The Last Emperor with Mommy. O_O Umm … Good movie. Very. Asians look kinda cute in 20s/30s styles. ^__^ I want a haircut kinda like that wannabe pilot lady. Not so short in the back, though … I’m talking about the one she had when she first showed up. I didn’t know there was a Manchuria during World War II. Saw some footage … asked Mommy, and she said it’s probably real. *shudders* She asked, “What’s worse? The killing of [I forget the number] by one person or one million killing 200,000?”

Mm. Anyway.

“Without individuals we see only numbers: a thousand dead, a hundred thousand dead, ‘casualties may rise to a million.’ With individual stories, the statistics become people—but even that is a lie, for the people continue to suffer in numbers that themselves are numbing and meaningless. Look, see the child’s swollen, swollen belly, and the flies that crawl at the corners of his eyes, his skeletal limbs: will it make it easier for you to know his name, his age, his dreams, his fears? To see him from the inside? And if it does, are we not doing a disservice to his sister, who lies in the searing dust beside him, a distorted, distended caricature of a human child? And there, if we feel for them, are they now more important to us than a thousand other children touched by the same famine, a thousand other young lives who will soon be food for the flies’ own myriad squirming children?”
Neil Gaiman, American Gods

You know … that doesn’t make much sense to me. Of course, it can’t help that both times I read it was after midnight. But it’s still worded so nicely …

layouts, games, and book shopping

Ummm … *is in the middle of changing the layout* Lookie, mah birthday prezzie from Noelle. :D:D:D:D So cool! Pun not intended. ^^;;; Kawaii kitty, no?

Oh yeah, the Japanese reminds me. When we were coming home there was a commercial on the radio for some new store. This isn’t the whole name, just the part I remember. :b I heard them say “The Shishi Store.” I was sitting there thinking I must have heard it wrong, and then Daddy said, “Did they just say The Shishi Store?” ^_^;;;;;; So hah! I didn’t imagine it! XP And uhh … I don’t wanna explain. >.>; *moves along*

Today I followed Mickey to his room and asked if I could play with the GCN. We played Tetris Worlds. :D Weird setup, though … it’s kind of like, how far can you stray from the simple game of stacking tetraminos while still stacking tetraminos? And for some reason, I kept landing blocks one space off from where I meant them to go. >.< Annoying. He kept goading me. ^^;;; I’m not very good at Tetris anymore … *sniffles* I was always two or so levels behind him. Pooh.

After we played two or three neverending games @_@ (Mickey: When does this end? Me: Now. *quits*) we played The Sims. Bwahaha, I’m one level higher than he is in our house. >b He kept poking fun at me because of my bathroom though. >.> (Mickey: Who has the cleaner bathroom? Me: At least I don’t have flies flying around my toilet! Mickey: Those are your pet flies. They’re by your room. Me: Yeah well at least my bathroom doesn’t stink.)

Went to Barnes and Noble. *.* Their manga/comic section can look pretty nice when it’s cleaned up. Of course, it’s still only two shelves worth of space, but better than nothing. Everything was all out of order. I would have straightened it out (my fingers were just itching to put everything in order), but I was carrying food from Tony Roma’s, and plastic is loud when other people are reading. o.o

Got this one manga, forget what it’s called, read about it in my Waldenbooks e-mail thingimabobber. It’s “controversial.” :b Also got Kare Kano 3 (dunno why, not that into the series), Neil Gaiman’s Smoke and Mirrors (waiii!), Why Girls Are Weird (about this girl who posts made-up diary entries online, and what happens because of it o.O), aaaand … The Art of Charles Schultz. w00t! XD $25. o_o But it’s Charles Schuuultz! It has his older comics and stuff. Mommy says they’re not as funny. But they’re cute. Yup! ^-^

I spent, in total, $81.11. ._. Okay, new rule. No wandering around bookstores after I’ve got two or three or four books! x_x

Spent the rest of the night working on my First Band on the Moon fanlisting. Woo! :D I was working on the Other Side of the Moon fanlisting, but then I got tired of coding/writing, so I went to look at Noelle’s present. X) And it led me here. Muahaha.

I changed the coding a bit, though. Put the entries in a div tag, instead of in an inline frame. (Used frames for L.S layout, don’t wanna do that again any time soon. x_x)

Oh yeah. :D New layout at Literal Scars. Woo! Dunno how good it is though. I always tend to like my really not-so-normal stuff, and then it turns out that there’s something wrong with it. :( Oh well. Poem! (on the layout) “I need to have loved you. I need to have told you so.” Whyyy can’t I write like that?

Oh yeah. Went to this person’s writing site. I like her poems. ^^; All three she’s got up there. Especially the first one. ^^ Kind of makes me want to create my own writing site (one separate from my art). But I don’t have nearly enough of anything for it.

Anyway, anyway … now on to fixing up the tagboard for the layout. And after that I think I’ll leave the OSOTM fanlisting for when I wake up.

you and I both know

Okay! Finally. New layout. :b I spent most of my computer time working on this today. *breathes* And I’m so happy! :D Well, okay, I guess it’s a weird layout. >.> I made it, so hey, that explains it. Yup. Anyway … I had bunches of stuff I wanted to say about it. Lessee. I used Adobe Photoshop to make it. :) Well, for the most part. I used PSP to make the red part. ^^;; I’m still more sure of myself in PSP than PS, so … yeah.

I also learned (finally) how to use that image slicer. :D That’s why there’re so many images to load. ^^;; This one site I was looking at said slicing up images doesn’t make it load any faster, but it loads faster in the person’s mind, because the mind fills in the empty parts of the image as it’s loading. I thought that was interesting. But then I looked at the coding that was spilled out x_x and now I wonder, doesn’t that take a longer time to load? Mm. Dunno. Oh well. What else … Side scrolling! Hopefully that doesn’t annoy tooo many people. >_> ^^;;;; Sorry, I just like the look of it. Maybe I’m less annoyed by them because my touchpad lets me scroll sideways on the bottom. ^.^; So sorry.

Um. Look! See gif? Is fading away to the bottom! :D:D I think it was more trouble than it was worth, though. :/ And about the words at the top … I didn’t know what to call it, and “spuger” (kinda like booger :b) came to mind. But then I found out it’s a real thing (Yahoo search) so I changed it to spugey (now like “pukey”). And “reyal” came from me first calling it a royal mess, but I thought that was insulting to any royals, so I changed it to reyal (and I think it’s a word in Spanish, but I didn’t look it up ^^;;). So, yeah, that’s it.

On to the next thing. Mommy reminded me about the thing on channel 5, so I watched it. She knew about it ’cause KTLA Morning News had a spot on it or something. Evanescence was on last. (“You have to watch the lesser bands first,” Mommy said :b) W00t! And Gregory Smith and what’s-her-name hosted it. o.o Yay! Gregory Smith!! XP

Evanescence performed two songs, Going Under and Bring Me to Life. Mommy asked if they were really playing or if it was a recording, because “it sounds so good!” Yaay! :D And I think I wanna be Amy Lee. o_o;; I wanna sing like her; I wanna design clothes like her; I wanna be her. O_o I never wanted to be anyone else before. Oh well. I wanna sing like her!! *cries*
