anime blog and personal site rants?

There are these two pages (probably more) online that I read, one about “trendy anime blogs” and the other about personal websites.

I probably don’t qualify for an anime blog. ^.^; I haven’t used many anime images lately. :/ And I don’t like the 8pt font size. SM00’s got that on her blog. x_x I mean, okay, on a 17″ monitor with an 800×600 screen resolution it’s a pretty legible size. But on a 15″ screen with 1024×768, it can be a strain on the eyes sometimes.

Regarding another point this page had, okay, I may have a kind of depressing name (if I actually went ahead and got my crimsoncut domain, that would be even more dark :b). And I may have used garish colors before. And I most definitely change my layout a bit too often (I … get sick of my work if I look at it frequently enough ^^;;;). But uhh … skipping over the pointless stuff.

Moving on to the next page. While I thought the anime blog page might have been funny (I’ve been to two of the nine pages they pick on before, and didn’t like them being exemplified like that), the other one was just plain bitching and crap. It wasn’t well thought out and decently written. There’s really no point to it. It was just pointing out people and saying, “This part of your site is awful.” Why not be more constructive and give tips on how to improve?

“You are not a “webmaster” (or “webmistress”) because you have a website. Any two-bit punk can do exactly the same thing — inflating yourself with self-granted titles of grandiose stature doesn’t change the fact that your site sucks.”

I guess it’s the wording or something. I finally get it. People don’t like that a “site” filled with information about the site owner is held on the same level as a “site” that contains something for other people, i.e. information, reviews, whatever. Or at least I think basically that’s it.

So my warning “This is a personal domain and thusly I use my space to satisfy my own needs, so leave if you’re looking for real content” doesn’t cut it. Then I began to think, so what’s the point of me having my blog online? I mean, I know I say, “I have a blog for myself, no one else,” but then if that’s true, shouldn’t I just keep it away from everyone?

But then those friends-only livejournals always annoyed me. :b I mean … it’s fine if you don’t go around talking about it. Or actually posting a link to it. I don’t think I talk about my journal in my blog much, do I? Or my diary? I haven’t posted a link to that in sooo long.

But anyway. Just made me think. What the hell do I have a blog for anyway? SM00 and Noelle, I suppose. Keep up with each other. But then, if that’s so, why do I go around commenting in other people’s blogs and leaving the url to it? And joining fanlistings? O_o Something to ponder. I mean … I don’t have visions of grandeur, do I? I don’t want to become a super-read, super-linked, super-talked about blogger, do I? O_O (I can imagine all the paranoia keeping me up at night. Ahaha. ^_^;;;)

I think my blog’s gonna get another dry spell when college starts. I just really really don’t like typing up little reports of my day. ^^;; Although one couldn’t easily tell by reading my blog. I mean … I always found, “woke up, ate breakfast, went to school, had class, came home, did homework, went online” stuff boring and pointless and whatnot … it’s just that sometimes I need to say what happened. Why is that?

And you know what? I think, wasn’t it, those type of journals that are treasured the most today? When people wrote down what happened during the day? Okay maybe not eating breakfast and going to school. :b But … there’s someone who’s into that, isn’t there? I forget what they’re called. Something to do with culture … I thought anthropology and sociology, but those aren’t it, are they?

nothing left to say

Okay. New layout! Ehehe. I got it from the cover of The China Garden by Liz Berry. Copyrights and stuff under credits. ^^;; Anyway … I’m not sure the lyrics fit the image (they’re, uhh … The Corrs’ “Give It All Up”) but I couldn’t find anything better … in other words I searched for a few minutes and got lazy. XP Oh well.

Other layout got boring. Even with the wraparound text it’s still image here, text to the side. And this layout is the same, just reversed, but it’s still new, so it’ll stay up for, oh, say a couple of days. :b But I still like the other layout … Mikako … and pnik :b … and Ai Yazawa … but the coding/placement got boring. So yeah.

On Tuesday night Mommy got me to watch Dead Like Me. :D Funny show. Not just funny. It’s interesting. It’s not … plain humor. I like the actor who plays George. Or is it Georgia? *didn’t pay much attention* Whyyyy did they put it on at 11 at night?! And then … the regular airtime from now on is Fridays at TEN. ;_; That’s Monk time!!! *wails* Unfaaair!

here comes another one

Yaya! ^_^ New layout ish up. Yupyup. I dunno who it is. >.> I think it’s Mikako (Miwako’s older sis from Gokinjo Monagatari). Pink hair, pouty lips, yeah, sure points to Mikako. :b

Anyway. Lyrics are from Yo La Tengo. ^___^ I like them. Another indie pop group I like. XD Uhh, but they’re not my favorite or anything … actually, I think I could rightly say that The Cardigans are my most favorite of all time bands. Acause I keep going back to them. ^_^ *thinks of all the other bands/singers/groups she considered her favorite*

Well anyway. The song is on their album, “I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One,” which I got on Sunday. :D It’s Autumn Sweater, the song that has the most comments on SongMeanings.net. :b

*dies satisfied*

New layout. Purple. Yukari (from Paradise Kiss :b). Lots and lots of … mixed up coding. Mm. It took me the whole day to get this layout up. ^^; Actually, I worked on it yesterday, too. Yesterday I made most of the layout. Finished editing the image today, making little changes and stuff. I spent maybe 2–2.5 hours yesterday on it. Today I did the coding. That took me the whole day. And this is without slicing the image. Can you imagine how much later I’d be up if I’d sliced it? ^^;;; I don’t want to think about it.

Maybe 5–6 hours coding? ^^;; Yeah … Hopefully I won’t get too annoyed by this layout very soon. >.> ‘Cause even right now I see things that irk me. ._.; Auuugh … Can’t be good enough, can I? :b Hmm … oh well.

I noticed myself not minding rock music as much as I used to. It’s good, because I don’t get annoyed. But it’s bad, because … even though I’m starting to like harsher stuff, I still know it’s not that good, music-wise.

Auugh … lately I’ve been wishing I could be perfectly happy with Savage Garden and The Corrs and Lisa Loeb. Lisa Loeb used to be one of my faves. And for so long, too. ;-; Now I notice she’s a bit too soft for me. But I still like her first two albums. It’s like, first album, most liked, last album, least liked, second album, in between.

Well anyway. The point of all that is … I like my Chevelle album now. ^.^; When I first got it I thought, ‘yuck, this is no good.’ But then I thought, ‘I’ll get used to it.’ Just like I’ve gotten used to a lot of other music I bought but didn’t like much at first. And … now I have gotten used to it. The songs I like the most are Send The Pain Below, Closure, The Red, and One Lonely Visitor. ^_^

Oh. Here’s another thing I wanted to say. I’m looking into pMachine. ^^;; I don’t know what the requirements are for running it, I can’t seem to find anything about that on the site. I think it uses something I don’t have on fs.net. But I’m still tired of GM, and don’t have much of anything else to do … *hides huge to-do list behind her back* … so I’m looking into it. ^_^’ (Looking into it as in … downloading and looking at the files and attempting to upload it on fs.net.)

Ah! The title of this layout … I forget who sings the song. I forget what the song’s called. But I keep seeing the music video (not as often as Bring Me to Life, though, grrr) and I think it’s weird (in a good way) and I’m starting to enjoy the song (actually, I enjoy the song pretty well by now :b), and I can’t think of any other lyrics that would fit the layout, so there ya go.

domain host setups

Well … I forgot fs.net is the one without MySQL databases. HAHAHA! So funny! Right. And I dun wanna move my blog back to inangeling-dot-net. XO So I just sticky wi’ da GM for now and wait until either a. I move fs.net to an Apache server (not likely) b. I become uber rich and upgrade my current hosting package to the first plan I bought for inangeling-dot-net ($100 per year) c. I become even more rich and get a package where I can host more than one domain there, or d. I move to another server entirely (don’t know why I would, though).

So uh, yeah, point being: I’ll stick with greymatter and not rebuild any old files.
